16 August 2015 - recording the new album - update #1 - Incidense

I'm sure you guys were wondering what we were up to last couple of months, so here's a quick recap:

Jurjen Bergsma on bass guitar

The one and only Jurjen Bergsma [Silhouette] will provide us with his technical grooves and bass guitar magic on this upcoming album, sprinkled with a dash of infinite knowledge & kindness and covered in a rock and roll hot sauce. It's fingerpickin' good I tell ya!

Recording the new Incidense album

Secondly, we started recording our new album this month, and we plan on finishing it by the end of this year. Rob is well on his way tracking the drums and delivered a stellar performance in the process. The material is far more technical, melodic and diverse than anything that we've written before, so we're all excited sharing it with you guys once it's done. Question is: Will you like it? Only one way to find out by waiting just a few more months :-)

10 May 2014 - Writing the new album - update #2 - Incidense

Regular updates, right! It's been a while (again) since our last status update with regard to the new album. We had some delays here and there, but in the past few weeks we have been able to work on our very first track for this album in the studio; a 10+ minute beast! Still a lot of work to be done on this track, but the first signs are very promising indeed! Is it epic? Does it rock your socks off? Or is it a ballad perhaps? Maybe not, maybe so...all will be revealed when the time is right. For now, we'll continue the work and try to make sure this is our best work yet!

Besides all this Incidense studio-madness: Rob has been helping out our friends from [Silhouette] in numerous ways in the past few months. Besides doing some gigs with them he also recorded the drum tracks for their upcoming album, so be sure to keep an eye out for that gem when it hits the stores!

That's it for now, see you at the next update!

3 January 2014 - Writing the new album - update #1 - Incidense

First of all, Incidense wishes you a great year in which all your hopes and dreams may come true! 2014 will be the year we hope to add something to our (and hopefully your) music catalogue. As you might have read in our news items below we have been working on new material last summer/fall/winter for our second album, which should be the follow up to our debut album [Incarcerated]. We're not going to give away yet what it will sound like exactly, but during the writing process our sound & songwriting seems to have evolved into a fresh and slightly different direction for us as a band. No worries though, we haven't lost touch with the progressive side, or have we? Hmmmm.. ;-) Anyway, we have around 100+ minutes of material that we will strip down to around 60-70 minutes and will eventually form the core of the new album. Still loads of work to be done though, but from now on we will keep you up to date regularly with these album updates.

17 December 2013 - Bassplayer Rich Huybens will be leaving Incidense

Rich Huybens and the rest of Incidense have decided that we will both follow a different (epic) musical journey in the near future. We would like to thank Rich for all his hard work and his passion for the music and the band. From our very first gig with Rich (sharing the stage with both [Maschine] and [Also Eden]) to the Dutch Exposure Festival finals - we had a great run and loads of fun along the way. We wish Rich all the best with his future musical endeavours and we're sure he'll be providing his mighty basstones again soon in the world of progrock!

PERSONAL MESSAGE from Rich: “During the summer Incidense was working hard on new material, but in the development of the songs, I discovered the new compositions don’t fit with me and my playing. I deliberately avoid the term “musical differences” because that mostly implies hard discussions and members running off. I have a style of playing that is mine and what’s closest to me, what I love and want to continue to do. Although it worked well with the songs of “Incarcerated”, the new songs require a different style of playing, which I can’t bring. So that’s why I decided to leave. We had a great time and I hope I contributed to the sound and growth of the band. We surely remain friends and I will follow the band as a fan”

8 May 2013 - The end of a chapter, the start of a new one

After playing the final notes of our set on Saturday evening and enjoying an awesome live performance of both Trip Trigger and Profuna Ocean, the Dutch Exposure experience came to a conclusion for us. We had such a great time playing at the Dutch Exposure Festival; excellent music, talented bands, great audience, excellent venue, and [PBII] to end the festival - an evening we will remember for a long time! Once again, our loyal fans made our performance feel like home, as always! Be sure to check our 'rivals' that night: [Profuna Ocean] (the overall winner of the evening) and [Trip Trigger], both are amazing bands which are set to conquer the Dutch prog scene for sure! And, we've added some live photos of our show to the [Live pictures section] as well for those of you who weren't able to witness our live performance. Now, the time has come for us to continue writing the new album, a new chapter indeed!

24 February 2013 - Breaking the silence in the US

The US - progrock/metal-radioshow [Jawdy's Basement] on SH ROCK was kind enough to play two of our songs on their 21 February-show as part of their special item 'The Dutch Treat'. Many thanks to Wouter van Hal for making this happen! For those of you who missed this episode you can check their [Podcast website]. 16 December 2012 - Reviews and parties

Yes, the first reviews of our track on the Dutch Exposure Album are in! So far, we're happy to report that everybody seems to have enjoyed our contribution as much as we enjoyed making it. German website [Musikreviews.de] thinks were one of the bands that makes it worth buying this album, [Progwereld] describes our end result as 'excellent' and [iO Pages] thinks our track is like a rollercoaster ride, leaving you (pleasantly) spinning in the end. Besides these uplifting reviews we were able to introduce ourselves to the public at the launch party (photo) and had a great time! A big thank you to [Progmotion] and [Freia Music] for organising this event. If you want to buy the Dutch Exposure album package, go to our [Order] page and enjoy!

2 December 2012 - New website and writing the new album

Welcome to the new website! We decided to update the looks of our website a little bit, hope you like and enjoy it. So what's the score? After our last gig at the ProgMayhem Festival we finally have some time on our hands to work on that important second album. A special thank you to Frans van Arkel for his permission to use his great photos on our website and to our talented 'in-house photographer-artist' Sanne Somers for his excellent band picture.

24 October 2012 - Progmayhem festival cancelled

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Progstorm Festival is cancelled. We feel sorry for all those who looked forward to it. Therefore, the four bands (Knight Area, Tightland, Incidense and Alerion) considered how to resolve the disappointment. Within a short time we will inform you about the date and location of a new festival with these four bands.

22 september 2012 - but this one goes to eleven

As most of you know by now, we're participating in the Dutch Exposure Project by Freia music. As part of the project, we were asked to record a track for this album, which will be released on 12 December 2012. We decided to record our song at the Knight Area Productions Studio, led by the one and only, talented and extremely kind mister Gerben Klazinga.   Incidense at the Knight Area Studio
And we can tell you this, it was an absolute pleasure working with him! The recordings went smooth, swiflty and according to plan as everyone brought their 'A'-game to the studio. At the end of the day we had finished the drums, bass guitar, electric guitar and vocal tracks, with the keys and background vocals still to be done. So, after these last tracks are recorded, it's all up to Gerben to pour his magic studio sauce over the recordings (a top secret recipe obviously). We'll keep you posted on that. In the meanwhile, check out our Pictures section for photos of this recording day. Progmotion was also kind enough to honour us with a visit during the recordings, so check out their news section for a photo report!
